About: Extract from Chapter 2 - Gian-Paolo opening the Software Café on a morning with sunshine

In truth, for most people it would just be another day. They would go through their automatic routines of breakfast, shower, dress, in any order, missing out the elements they couldn't manage. And on their way home/to work/the dairy, they would pass Gian-Paolo and his espresso machine and he would be waiting. He placed tables outside the front of the cafe. He opened the door wide. He made coffee and let the aroma drift out onto the street. It always worked. The sun, a table and chairs on the pavement, the smell of roasted arabica, a morning paper, the memory of the night before, trying to forget the night before, made it all work. Gian-Paolo caught them all.

About: Extract from Chapter 1 - Herne is having issues in the Dreamxeam

'Poetry Herne. I want poetry.' The Voice began to fade. 'I've heard it said that poetry is the art of calling things names,' and with that the Voice drifted away. 'The art of calling things names?'

Herne slipped into semi-consciousness. The sheet stuck to his clammy feet. He had kicked the duvet from his side of the bed. His T-shirt was damp with sweat. The cold pale blue light of early morning slipped through the window.

'Nightmare dream from Hell,' muttered Herne as he rolled himself onto his back, reorganised the duvet and tried to calm his erection.

About: The Software Café

Hello - I have just released The Software Café: a novel, the story of a young engineer's journey through projects, share houses, love and office politics. A heroic search for the true meaning of software, quality and everything. Well, actually, not everything. The focus is more on lunch, or dinner, or both.

It's about software, quality, projects, beer, restaurants, weird dreamxeam adventures, love, a person called Geoff who isn't an alien, and a couple of real aliens - what is there not to like? I hope you enjoy it.

And wishing you happy holidays.
